St Andrew, Patras

Construction of this modern Byzantine basilica began in 1908. It is the largest church in Greece. The relics (his skull) of St Andrew were brought back here from St Peter's in Rome on the order of Pope Paul VI in 1964

St Andrew was said to have been crucified on an X shaped cross and hence its name.
