Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct built in 50 AD to channel water from the springs in Uzes to Nimes. It is one of the best preserved Roman aqueducts and was listed as a World Heritage Site for its architectural ingenuity.

Pont du Gard
We crossed the bridge to the right bank and climbed to the top of the aqueduct. We then walked further to the panoramic view point to see the aqueduct.

Bus to Pont du Gard
We took the bus to Pont du Gard from the bus station beside our hotel (Ibis Avignon).The bus station is near the train station and in the basement carpark of our hotel. The travelling time is 39 minutes at €2.60 one way.

There was only one passenger besides us
The bus stop is about 500 m from the tourist centre of Pont du Gard

Restaurant Fou de Fafa
This restaurant is situated in the middle of the old town. The streets are very quiet at night.

The cookies, biscuits and sweets here are made from the plant autrefois. It is a Provencal specialty.
