The Parthenon

The parthenon was completed in 438 BC and dedicated to the Greek Goddess Athena.

Every aspect of the Parthenon was built on a 9:4 ratio to make the temple completelely symmetrical. The architects also used visual tricks to counteract the laws of perspective.

The base of the temple is higher in the middle than at its edges. Each column leans inwards slightly and is thicker in the middle.
