Corinth Canal

The Corinth Canal, built betwenn 1881 and 1893, connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and thus separate the Peloponnese from the mainland. It is 6.3 km long and  can save a small ship a distance of 700km around the Peloponnese.
