Queuing at the Esna Lock

While our boat was queuing to pass the Esna Lock there are many people rowing their boats towards us. At first we did not know what they were doing. What happened was pretty interesting.

They started to throw their wares eg T-shirts, scarves and Egyptian traditional clothes up to the deck in a plastic bag. You are supposed to look at them and if you are interested in buying then you can bargain by shouting your price back at them. If a deal is struck you simply take out the T shirt and put your money in the plastic bag and throw it back to them. Any unwanted wares are thrown back to the traders but  unfortunately, most will land in the water.  Well, I suppose they will just dry them under the scorching Egyptian  sun the next day and re sell them.
