Florence (Firenze)

This is our second visit to Florence. We came here in 2004 on our first visit to Italy. We have always wanted to come back since to this beautiful Renaissance town and the movie Inferno certainly added impetus to our coming here

Florence (or Firenze in Italian) is known as the cradle of Renaissance. It was here that the transition from the Middle Ages to modernity began. The Medici were the most powerful family and ruled Florence from 14th to 17th century. They have promoted literature and art and made Florence the cultural and intellectual  heart of  Europe. They left a legacy visitors come to see today
