Christopher Wren rebuilt this church in 1670. Anyone born within earshot of the Bow Bells is said to be a true Cockney.
Now the Bow bells can only be heard in a small area in the City and Shoreditch and the study into the bells' sound revealed that there are no maternity wards within earshot of St Mary-le-Bow. As such, there will be no more true Cockney in London.
