Wine Spring of the Han Dynasty

The city got its name when General Huo Qubing of  the Western Han Dynasty won the Hexi Battle against the Huns in 121 BC. The Emperor presented him a jar of precious wine. General Huo thought that the reward should go to the whole army so he poured the wine into the spring to share with his army.

The bronze carvings are laid in the ground

Wine star will not be found in heaven
If Earth does not love wine
Then there is no Wine Spring on Earth"
