The Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript depicting the four Gospels of the Christian New Testament written in Latin. It is believed to have been created around the year 800 AD. The Book of Kells is more than just a book; it is a symbol of Irish cultural identity, a window into medieval times and a masterpiece of medieval art. It is extraordinary that the manuscript has survived over 1,200 years with its intricate artwork remaining vivid to this day. The Book of Kells is on display at Trinity College Dublin and visitors can see two pages on display at any one time. These pages are changed every 6 to 8 weeks.
