This is the main chapel of Santa Maria Novella. Giovanni Tornabuoni commissioned Ghirlandaio to paint the chapel in 1485.

Michaelangelo was 14 when he worked on the frescoes as an apprentice of Ghirlandaio. He was sacked after a short spell for correcting some of Ghirlandaio's work because the master was envious of his student.
