St Catherine's Chapel and Almhouses

These almshouses were first built in 14587 to house 13 poor men. The Chapel and almshouses were destroyed in one night during the second world war bombings. The city council maintains the ruins as a reminder of the fateful night.

"Saturday the Twelfth Day of September 1772. They ordered That the Hatch belonging to the Dog Whipper's Room in St Catherines Alms House, be repaired."
