Jordan River flows from the Sea of Galilee into the Dead Sea. The river winds so much that the entire course measures 208 km instead of 96 km if it flows in a straight line.
We saw three Russian ladies baptised themselves in the river

Israel is just across the river
The Israeli occupied west bank of the river is surrounded by minefields and military outposts and are only visited by Christian pilgrims who are permitted to enter by the military authorities.
