The high ranking officers of the court of Akhenaten were buried here. Their tombs are unique as they contain scenes of palace and temple life and the worship of the sun god Aten. The dead were no longer thought to join the gods of the underworld but remain in the world of the living to worship the sun god each dawn. There was no judgement of the dead and Osiris was conspicuously missing. Instead, the images of the royal family featured prominently.

There are 6 tombs here but we were only allowed to see 4 of them
It was a long walk up the hill to the tombs
