The Castles of Wales

Wales is the castle capital of the world. It had about 600 castles and only about 100 are still standing either as ruins or have been restored. After the Normans conquered England, they turned their attention to Wales. The castles served as defensive structures and operated as a base in enemy territory.

We chose to visit Beaumaris, Conwy and Cardiff castles in our tour of Wales.
