This is Antoni Gaudi's most famous building in Barcelona. Construction of this church started in 1882 and is still ongoing. The expected completion date is in 2026. It is common for churches to take more than a hundred years to complete! Hopefully we can come back to visit again.
The Nativity facade
Only this facade was completed during Gaudi's lifetime
The Nativity facade and the crypt of this church together with Park Guell, Casa Mila and 4 others form a World Heritage Site.
The Passion facade
The style of construction is very different between the old and the new parts of the building. This is understandable as Gaudi is no longer here to supervise and the new constructions are built according to the current architects' interpretations of Gaudi's designs. They are certainly not what Gaudi had intended.
