The name Mayfair comes from the 15 days' fair that was held in the area. The fair was stopped by the residents of Mayfair because they felt it was attracting undesirable people from poorer areas of London.
Mayfair is the most expensive place in Monopoly. In reality, it is also true as property and rents here are among the highest in London and the world
