Bezeklik Thousand Buddhas Caves

These caves were carved over a period of 900 years between 400 and 1300.

Unfortunately, not much of the murals are left

Faint murals on the ceiling and walls

 Close what?

Many of the caves here are not opened to the public. Other places of importance in the world  also share the same policy. All in the name of preservation. I beg to differ. All that is hidden from the public will vanish eventually also. Therefore, it is better to allow more people to see them before they disappear. I am also in favour allowing the public to take photographs and videos of them; although that will hasten their demise but at least we will have more records of them when they are gone forever.
