Egyptian Museum 2

The second part of this post will show the artifacts on the first floor of the museum. Sadly, the Royal Mummy Room has been removed and photography is not allowed in some rooms.

There are many Fayoum Mummies

A portrait of the deceased is painted on a wooden panel and placed on the face of his mummy or painted direct on his mummy

Fayoum portrait is a stylistic rather than a geographic description of the mummies

It started during the Roman rule in Egypt.
A fusion of Egyptian and Roman-Graeco funerary practice
