Imperial College London

In 1907, King Edward VII granted a Royal Charter to incorporate the the Royal School of Mines, the Royal College of Science and the City And Guilds College as Imperial College of Science And Technology. It became part of the University of London in 1908, awarding University of London degrees.

Imperial College obtained the power to grant degree from the Privy Council in 2003 and left the University of London in July 2007 on its 100th birthday. It is now an independent university and legally known as Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine. The university prefers to call itself simply as Imperial College London
