The Monastery was first mentioned in the 9th century and enlarged in the 11th century. It was destroyed by the French in the War of Independence in 1811 and rebuilt in 1844. We could only see the exterior of the Monastery.
The Monastery was rebuilt in 1844 and the Benedictine monks live here today.
