The original Cavern Club opened in 1957 as a jazz club. It later became a rock n roll scene in the 1960s. The Beatles used to play here in their early days.
Unfortunately it has to make way for an underground ventilation shaft for British Rail in 1973. The present replica was built in 1984 just 2 doors away covering about 75 % of the original site.
