Shoes Memorial on the Danube Promenade

This is a memorial to the Jews who were killed in Budapest during World War II



To the memory of the victims
shot into the Danube
by Arrow Cross Militiamen
in 1944-45







They were told to take off their shoes, shot at the edge and fell into the river.




It represents the shoes left behind on the bank.
