This catacomb was built in 1810 to solve Paris' overflowing cemeteries by exhuming the bones and storing them here. It is also the world's largest grave as it holds the remains of more 6 million people.

This catacomb was originally the limestone quarries initially situated on the outskirt of Paris before the city expanded.
It is estimated that the maze of tunnels herein are about 300 km long
