This was where the emperor prayed for a good harvest. It was rebuilt in 1889 after the original was struck by lightning. It has a diameter of 24.2 m and a height of 32 m. This entirely wooden structure was built using short pillars and one layer upon another without a single nail. This is a masterpiece of Chinese architecture. It was named a World Heritage Site in 1998
Another long walk
The hall is off limit to visitors
We met the Empress Dowager
