Gustav Klimt

This was the main reason for our visit, as we wanted to see The Kiss in real life. The Upper Belvedere holds the world's largest collection of paintings by Gustav Klimt. This is the best place to understand the evolution of his career since the paintings include every stage of his career.

The Kiss (1907-1909)

"The Kiss, probably Klimt's most famous work, was painted at the height of his Golden Period without a commission. It shows a couple, melting into one, at the edge of a meadow of flowers. Only the difference patterning of the robes distinguishes their bodies that are enveloped in a shimmering golden halo .Klimt actually used real gold leaf ,silver and platinum in his picture. He presumably started work on it in 1907..." (taken from the write up in the museum)

Upper Belvedere

The Upper Belvedere was constructed between 1717 and 1723. It was designed primarily for grand receptions, ceremonies and entertainment rather than everyday living. Today, it houses a museum featuring many masterpieces, including an impressive collection of works by Gustav Klimt. This was the main reason for our visit, as we wanted to see The Kiss in real life.

The Best Places to Visit : Tomb of Nefertari

I would start my list of the best places to visit with the Tomb of Nefertari in the Valley of the Queens near Luxor, Egypt. Nefertari was one of the wives of Ramesses II. Her tomb is regarded as the most beautiful and best-preserved tomb in Egypt. If you have an interest in ancient Egyptian history or tombs, this is one site you should not miss.
