This temple was built 1302 during the Yuan Dynasty and was used to worship Confucius in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.

The Thirteen Classics ( a term refers to the thirteen classics of Confucian tradition that were the core of the Imperial Examinations) were carved on 189 stelae here. The names of those who passed the Imperial Examinations are inscribed on the other stelae and on the backs of bixi.
