Eastern Qing Tombs 清東陵

Eastern Qing Tombs in Hebei is one of the two tombs  devoted to the emperors, empresses and imperial concubines of the Qing Dynasty. The other being the Western Qing Tombs. It situated about 125 km from Beijing. It is the largest, best preserved and most complete of all tombs in China. Emperor Shunzhi was the first to be buried here in 1663. He departed from the Manchurian's customary cremation and followed the Han Chinese custom by having himself buried instead. Only the tombs of  Emperor Qianlong, Empress Dowager Cixi and Xiang Fei are opened to the public.
