Guozijian 國子監

Guozijian is the Imperial College in Beijing. It prepared students to sit for the Imperial examinations and  is regarded as an institution of higher education. It was built in 1306 during the Yuan Dynasty. It follows the Chinese tradition that the temple should be on the left (Confucius Temple) and the college on the right. It is the only well preserved ancient site of higher learning in China. It was closed when the Qing Dynasty fell.
