Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is where you can experience the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. The town's origin goes back to the 12th century. Little has changed since and the city walls still surround the old town. It is part of the Romantic Road through southern Germany. We decided to spend a night here because we also wanted to see the town at night.

The name "Rothenburg ob der Tauber" is German for "Red castle above the Tauber", describing the town's location above the Tauber River.

Our hotel is near the station. We walked to the hotel, checked in and started to explore the town.
