Marienkirche is a chapel located in the inner court of Marienberg Fortress. Its origin can be traced back to 706 but the current building was rebuilt in the 11th century. It is the oldest church in Wurzburg. It was the traditional burial site for the Bishops of Wurzburg until the remains of St Killian, St Colman and St Totnan were moved to the new Wurzburg Cathedral in 788.
