An unfinished obelisk dating from the New Kingdom. Three sides of the shaft which is nearly 42 m long were completed except the inscriptions. Had it been completed, the obelisk would have weighed 1168 tonnes. A flaw was detected and the obelisk had to be abandoned, still partly attached to the parent rock.
