Luxor Temple

Largely built by Amenhotep III during the New Kingdom. We came here in the evening and it was dark when we left. We got to see the temple when it is lit up at night creating a different atmosphere from the day time.

In front of the first pylon are the remaining two statues of Ramses II.

The colonade of Amenhotep III.

Court of Amenhotep III surrounded by a double rows of columns.

The Hypostyle Hall.

Papyrus bud columns.

Circular column

The Birth Room with scenes illustrating the divine birth of Amenhotep III on the west wall.

This chamber was converted into a church by the Romans in the 4th century AD with its Pharoanic reliefs being plastered over and covered with Christian paintings.
