Madam Tussauds

Madam Tussauds was born in 1761 in Strasbourg. During the French Revolution, she was forced to make death masks of nobles and the King and Queen, to prove her allegiance. She inherited the wax figures at the end of the French Revolution and took her exhibition on tour.

Madame Tussauds established a base in London in 1835 at ‘The Baker Street Bazaar’ before moving to the current site. She died in 1850. The establishment was sold for a cool One Billion Sterling Pounds to Merlin Entertainments Group Ltd in 2007.
