Amenhotep IV changed his name to Akhenaten (meaning the servant of Aten). He re-located the Royal burial ground from the Valley of the Kings in Thebes (now Luxor) to Amarna. After his death, the priests of Karnak ordered the destruction of his tomb and eradicate all traces of the Pharaoh's new religion. His mummy was probably removed after the court returned to Thebes and is believed to be buried in the Valley of the Kings by his son Tutankhamun.
