Shah Jahan built this mausoleum in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The construction of this mausoleum started in 1632 and the entire complex took 21 years to complete.

Flower motifs with coloured stones pattern as borders
Colour stones are glued together by a technique called parchin kari
The stones will glow if light is shine on it
No photography is allowed inside the mausoleum. This picture is taken from the internet showing the Tomb of Mumtaz Mahal in the centre of the mausoleum and the Tomb of Shah Jahan on her side
The four minarets were built slanting away from the mausoleum for in the event that they should fall, they will fall away from the mausoleum
