This observatory was built in 1699. It is one of the five observatories built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. The purpose was to study the movements of the sun, moon and planets.
They may look like a children's playground but the structures here are in fact scientific instruments
The instruments are large and built into the ground, making them resistant to vibration and therefore accurate

We also visited the Jantar Mantar in Jaipur which is a World Heritage Site.
