Cathedral was built in 1476 on the site of a Roman temple. St Ulrich and St Afra are the patron saints of the city of Augsburg. Both are buried here. This is a church shared by the Catholic and Protestant. The Peace of Augsburg was signed in 1555 putting an end to the violent religious conflict.
