Zermatt lies at the foot of the Matterhorn and is surrounded by mountains over 4000 m high. It is on the German speaking part of Switzerland. We started our walk immediately upon checking into our hotel.

We went to the Hinterdorf to see the old traditional wooden buildings and the Kirchbrucke to see the Matterhorn. Then we walked up the hill to the View Point at Chalet Hotel Schonegg to see the town from above and the Matterhorn. All tourist spots in town are walkable and if you are too lazy to walk you can always take an electic taxi.
