Diwan-i-am

Diwam-i-am or the Hall of Public Audience is where the emperor addressed the public.



It has a 9 front  x 3 side arches



He was a British civil servant in India

Shah Jahan built this palace for Mumtaz Mahal.

The Florentine technique of pietra dura where minute slivers of precious or semi-precious stones were arranged in floral designs were set into the marble













As seen from the Golden Pavilion

Shah Jahan spent the last 8 years of his life here when he was imprisoned by his son, Aurangzeb. He could see the Taj Mahal from the balcony.

Agra Fort

Ths fort was built by Akbal, the first Mughal emperor of India. Construction started in 1565 with new buildings added on by later emperors. The Mughal emperors lived  here until 1638 when capital was moved to Delhi. It is a World Heritage Site.
