Terrace of the Lions

The lions stood here as the guardians of the Sacred Lake and the Sanctuary since the 6th century BC

The lions here are copies and the original ones are kept in the Archaeological Museum of Delos

Ancient Delos

The island of Delos is situated about 3 km southwest of Mykonos. According to the Greek mythology, Delos was the birthplace of Artemis and Apollo.

Delos was a religious centre since 700 BC during the Mycenaean period (1600-1100 BC) and second in importance only to Delphi. This island was so sacred that no one was allowed to be born or die here.

House of Dionysus

Its heydays were during the Hellenistic period when there were about 30,000 inhabitants on this little island. The city was destroyed by the Romans in 88 BC

This baren island is devoid of vegetation and hence there were no inhabitants since. It is now a World Heritage site

Buses in Mykonos

We took the bus back to the hotel at 11.22 pm. The idea of walking up hill back to the hotel didn't appeal to us

Bus station in Fabrika Square

It is very convenience to take the bus as our hotel is at the first stop of every bus that leaves this station. One way costs Euro 1.60 irrespective of the number of stops.
