Glendalough Monastery

This monastery was founed by St Kevin in the 6th century. It flourished for over 600 years despite many raids from the Vikings. It declined after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539. The age of the buildings here is uncertain but most date from 8th to the 12th centuries.
