Bryggen 2

Bryggen is the old harbour of Bergen. It is a reminder of the town's importance as part of the Hanseatic League's trading empire from 14th to 16th century. The buildings face the harbour. They are long and narrow and are separated by narrow passages. The German merchants lived and worked here. Today only 62 buildings survived. It is now a World Heritage Site.
