The Church of Madonna del Sasso

The Church of Madonna del Sasso (Our lady of the Rock) was built iin the 16th century on the site of the old chapel.

Santuario Madonna del Sasso

The sanctuary is situated on a sacred mountain. According to legend, Virgin Mary appeared on the mountain in 1480. As such, a small chapel was built here in her honour and more chapels were built later.

Walking to the Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is about five minutes walk from the station.

Funiculare Madonna del Sasso

This funicular will take you up to the Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso. It was completed in 1906 to enable more pilgrims to have access to the santuary.
