The first pyramid built by Sneferu (father of Khufu who built the Great Pyramid) in Dasyhur during the Old Kingdom. It represents a transition from a step-sided to a smooth-sided pyramids. The pyramid was constructed at an angle of 54 degrees from its base to reach a height of 105 m. However, due to the instability of the land they had to reduce the angle to 43 degrees. This explains its bent shape and hence its name.
This pyramid was re-opened in July 2019 after its closure in 1965.
