Conwy Town Wall

Conwy has a well preserved town wall which surrounds the old town. It was built by Edward I in four years from 1283 to 1287. It is interesting to note that the English invaders lived inside the wall while the Welsh outside. The Welsh were not allowed to enter.

We started our walk at the Upper Gate

Edward I did not build this modern spiral staircase as part of the wall

The wall is 1.3 km long

The highest part of the wall is 9 m
