The New and Old Cathedral of Salamanca

These are the two cathedrals of Salamanca. The Romanesque  Old Cathedral was built in the 12th century. The New Cathedral which was built in the 16th century did not replace the Old Cathedral. It serves as an extension to the Old Cathedral and the entrance to the Old Cathedral is now through the New Cathedral.

The new Gothic Cathedral has also embraced Renaissance and Baroque styles during the years of its construction
