Siq el-Berid has come to be known as Little Petra because it is like a miniature version of Petra. It was the entry and exit point for the trade routes to South Arabia and the Mediterranean since the 1st century AD.

Situated next to the entrance, it does not seem to have been a tomb but the office of the collector of tolls of the trading caravans that lodged here.
