The Monastery was built in the 1st century in honour of the deified king, Obadas I. It is larger than the Treasury but less elaborately decorated.
The interior has a large chamber with an arch-topped niche where the altar once stood.
It came to be known as the Monastery because of the many Christian crosses on its wall. It was perhaps used as a banquets in honour of the deified King Obadas I
