Musee de la Tapisserie de Bayeux

The Bayeux Tapestry, also known as Queen Matilda's Tapestry (Tapisserie de la Reine Mathilde), is an embroidery that depicts the conquest of England by William the Conqueror.

The Tapestry is 20 inches wide and 230 feet long. Latin inscriptions accompany the various scenes.

The story begins in 1064 in the Palace of Westminster where Edward the Confessor, the king of England, instructing Harold, Earl of Wessex, to go to France to inform William that he has been appointed as his successor and ends with the Battle of Hastings

King Harold was killed in the Battle of Hastings in 1066
