Waterlow Park

We stopped outside the Waterlow Park and walked to the Highgate Cemetery.

Taking the bus to Highgate Cemetery

Waterlow Park was bequeathed to the public by Sir Sidney Waterlow in 1889 as a ‘garden for the gardenless’. It consists of about 20 acres, situated just south of  Highgate Village in North London.

Lunch at the Whittington Stone

It is about 200 m from the Archway Station. We had our lunch here before catching the bus to Highgate Cemetery.

Full English Breakfast for my lunch

Fish and Chips

Gammon and eggs

Bramley Apple and Cinnamon Crumble

We will definitely come back on our next trip to London.

The Windsor & Eton Central Train Station

We then took the train back to London for lunch before joining the Highgate Cemetery tour at 2.00 pm.

Windsor Castle : The Queen's Guards

This is one the two places where you can have your photo taken standing next to the Queen's Guards.

Windsor Castle : Queen Mary's Doll's House

This is the largest doll's house in the world. It was built between 1921 1nd 1924 for Queen Mary. The Doll's House has an amazing collection of miniature items that actually work. Every item here was built on a 1:12 ratio. The carpets, curtains and furnishing are all copies of the real thing. The bathrooms are fully plumbed with running water through its tiny pipes and with flushable toilet and miniature toilet paper. Even the wine cellar contains genuine vintage wine.

Windsor Castle : St George's Chapel

This is the architectural highlight of the castle, built in 1475.

Windsor Castle again

Windsor Castle is the oldest continuously inhabited royal castle of Britain. It was built by William the Conqueror in 1070.

King George V chose Windsor as his family's surname in 1917.

The castle has been the Queen's home if she is not staying at Buckingham Palace.

The Round Tower

Regrettably, no photography is permitted inside the building here.
